Summer in the city

a short guide to the designs that must be included
in your wardrobe this season

Dresses:
summer in full swing

A minimalist dress accentuated with ruffles and decorative pleats or equally desirable cutouts? Timeless earth tones, luscious colours, floral prints, or innovative interpretations of abstract patterns? There is no better time of year to play with form than summer. Although designers, who compete with each other for the most stunning model of the season, offer us so many options that choosing just one is not the easiest task, we are up to the challenge with a selection of the most noteworthy items of the year.

If you are a fan of boho style, you will love Ulla Johnson's dresses with cascading ruffles and patterned forms by Zimmermann and IXIAH. On the other hand, if you are looking for casual silhouettes that match the quiet luxury trend, Scandinavian brands such as Toteme and Birgitte Herskind can help. Following the most popular influencers from Copenhagen, opt for relaxed-fitting items to keep you comfortable even during the greatest heat. In the summer, it is also worth investing in a model for big evening outings. The Attico and Versace are unparalleled pioneers in avant-garde constructions - take a look at the latest collections of these Italian brands and choose the details that best highlight your style. There you will find not only pieces with vivid colours and sensual cutouts but also lavish feathers, tulle transparencies and glistening sequins.

Tops:
take your pick

A high-quality top, which will reflect the style while providing comfort regardless of the temperature outside, is an essential part of any woman’s wardrobe and the foundation of this season’s urban looks. Even though there is no shortage of basics loved by minimalists in the collections of our beloved brands, designers have not forgotten about fashion’s most discerning group - trendsetters who appreciate extravagance. Check out where to look for the most appealing models.

You can find multiple trends combined in one design - The Attico, Alexander McQueen, Diesel and Versace are the brands that showcase that aesthetic. The irreplaceable Italians enriched T-shirts with shoulder padding and animal motifs, Sarah Burton adorned tops with drapes, asymmetrical accents and ruffles, Glenn Martens drew inspiration from grunge and Y2K styles, while Donatella`s 'La Vacanza' collection juggled between the now iconic 'Heritage Butterflies and Ladybugs' pattern, a polka dot motif, floral prints and the signature logo. The Dolce & Gabbana duo, opting for equally unorthodox silhouettes, explicitly established fuchsia as this summer’s trendiest colour and used it as a base for patterned tops with puff sleeves, tank tops and shirts with both short and long sleeves. The Zimmermann sisters were not left behind as, in addition to crochet forms, they rediscovered the hidden possibilities of floral prints and decorated their boho designs with prints that recall the most picturesque paradise landscapes.

Shorts:
the highest level of comfort

WComfortable shorts are a must-have for the upcoming heat waves. Although design matters, it’s not the most important, because in the summer we should pay more attention to the cut and fabric of the designs we choose. In order to make finding the right model easier for you, we’ve prepared a selection of designs that combine comfort, eye-catching aesthetics and – even more importantly – versatility. Check out our picks.

Patterned shorts are a must in your summer wardrobe, so you should definitely check out what Versace and Zimmermann have to offer. Silk models covered with the hottest print of the season are available in the ‘La Vacanza’ collection, and linen designs with floral motifs can be found in the portfolio of the boho brand from Australia. Looking for something more minimalistic? Diesel's denim shorts and classic cotton cuts in the timeless hues of Toteme and Burberry will be the perfect choice. You can style them not only with basic but also innovative forms, and create looks for countless occasions. Last but not least – a strong trend this year is lingerie style models, so don’t forget about the trendsetters’ favourite shorts from Bottega Veneta.

Accessories:
it's all in the details

Sunglasses that emphasize your beauty or a shopper made from natural materials that fits all the essentials – your summer looks will not be complete without functional and trendy accessories. See what top fashion houses have to offer and invest in everyday accessories and eye-catching models for special occasions.

If you want to see the world through stylish glasses, they should definitely be from Valentino, Bottega Veneta, Gucci or Balenciaga. Cat-eye frames, retro style designs or futuristic forms? The choice is yours. If you want your looks to be extra summery, add a shopper bag that will pull any outfit together. Raffia constructions in muted shades are at the forefront of collections from Givenchy, Saint Laurent and Loewe, while more vivid hues are all the rage for Jimmy Choo, Chloé and Jacquemus. Among our favourites are models with colourful handles, especially ‘Le Panier Soli’ with a touch of pink and ‘Sense Medium’ with yellow details.

Shoes:
one step ahead

From this season’s hit ballet flats to various iterations of slides and sandals – it’s time to choose your favourite shoes for the summer… and for years to come. We’ve prepared suggestions that will be perfect both for everyday walks and nights on the town. We’re sure you’ll love each and every one of them.

Starting with ballet flats beloved by trendsetters – we would recommend checking out the latest designs from Alaïa, Jimmy Choo, Chloé and Maison Margiela. The most coveted models include those inspired by Japanese shoes in mesh and those with the iconic Tabi toe. Flats that provide reliable comfort are also present in the portfolios of Fendi, Givenchy, Marni and Dolce & Gabbana. Our favourite models are from the Italian fashion houses – the ‘Signature’ with a blue monogram and ‘Bianca’ in a vibrant shade of fuchsia. But how do we complement looks for special events? There are two options: Saint Laurent or The Attico. The French brand has charmed us with spectacular stilettos embellished with crystals, and Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini did the same with an extravagant heeled mule model, the ‘Devon’.
