Paris, Prague, Rome, Budapest, Poznań, Wrocław, Krakow and the Tricity - these cities are just begging to be visited on a city break. During a few days, you can get to know them from the most beautiful side. During the day, but also at night. Find out how to pack for such a trip.
Above all, be comfortable - this is the first rule for a successful city break. Also check the weather forecasts, so that you don't take too many things for those few days, or, on the contrary, you don't run out of rain cover, for example. And rule number three? Be yourself!
They have to be able to handle hills, cobblestones, slippery museum floors and, if the occasion demands it, the dance floor. Choose your shoes carefully, bearing in mind all the circumstances in which you plan to find yourself. Stilettos, for example, will not work well in medieval city centres. Pay particular attention if the shoes in which you intend to conquer the city will not hurt your feet.
For warm-weather escapades, choose sneakers and sandals, plus flip-flops to give tired feet a rest in the evenings. In the Vitkac department store you will find many models of comfortable shoes in which no urban paths will be terrible. Trainers from controversial British designer Vivienne Westwood, with her iconic monarch apple print, will fit like a glove on the royal trails. In the suede Quest sandals from Eytys no one will be afraid of cobbled streets or sandy beaches. And the beige Givenchy Giv Runner lace-up sports shoes will go perfectly with any outfit and take you wherever you want to go.
Not planning to exhaust yourself, but keen to walk to an elegant restaurant or go dancing in the evening? Choose shoes that draw attention to themselves, but in which comfort is also the basis. Designers like to take inspiration from the Mediterranean climate. White and blue are the colours favoured by Dolce & Gabbana in their Blu Mediterraneo summer collection. Particularly worth noticing in this collection are sandals with a heel carved with a floral motif, inspired by artistic majolica tiles. The sandals are made of patent leather, which is decorated on the front with stones that sparkle like sea waves.
Keep an eye out for massive moccasins - they're back in the game! They tentatively started to appear on the streets in early spring, composing with voluminous trousers and oversized suits. In the summer, they joined sets with short trousers and mini skirts. Worn on bare feet or with high, thick socks, they certainly haven't said the last word!
Shorts, longer trousers, a couple of tops, a sweatshirt (check out the long ones too), a dress or two - such a "capsule " should be enough to be ready for adventures in the city. The grey (also available in pink), long cotton See By Chloe sweatshirt charms with its loose fit and two pockets, where you can put both a map and any souvenirs. The shorts and mottled blouse from Ganni not only look great, but help protect the environment. The fibres they are made from are recycled and produced with special care to use as few resources as possible. Another harmonious duo is formed by the Jacquemus label's trousers and top. The cream trousers, model Tangelo, are made of wool with a touch of elastane, while the short top with an exposed back is made of decoratively woven chenille.
They should not only be decorative, but also practical. Your backpack or handbag should be able to hold everything you need on your trips. The best solution? A backpack that can also be a handbag, like the multicoloured patterned Stark from MCM. A pouch or small handbag will come in handy for documents and a smartphone. Bottega Veneta's Cassette Mini belt handbags definitely stand out this season. They are made from lambskin leather forming the italian brand's signature Intreccio, or plaid. If you prefer to always have your phone close at hand so you can quickly capture a moment in a photo or prepare a social media status - use the clever Moschino logo belt case.
Sun, rain or wind can be a problem on city walks. But they are no reason to give them up! Each of them can be dealt with in a very stylish way. It's not just sunglasses and hats that protect you from the sun, recently visors have also been making an appearance on resort promenades. Also very fashionable are the seventies-style scarves tied around the head. They can also be used as hair ties when the wind is blowing and, when it's cooler, you can throw them over your shoulders - like a silk scarf from Balmain. If the forecast calls for rain, take along a small folding umbrella or cape that can be folded into a compact size. On this occasion you can again make a gesture towards our planet. Isabelle Marant suggests hats made of natural raffia fibre, in the most fashionable style among headwear at the moment, the bucket hat.
Do you have a faithful friend accompanying you on your travels? In Vitkac you will also find stylish suggestions for your dog. These include, for example, the very practical waterproof coat and elegant collar from the masters of Italian design, the Versace fashion house, or the slightly less luxurious denim waistcoat resulting from the collaboration between Dsquared2 and Poldo Dog Couture. The idea behind the second company is that four-legged pets can also enjoy the luxury of being pampered with unconventional and incredibly comfortable clothes.
You think "suitcase", you should answer "Gucci!". If it weren't for suitcases, there probably wouldn't be this most famous fashion house in the world. The doyen of a family later involved not only in leather goods but in all manner of fashion, Guccio Gucci, came up with its creation. As a young man, he worked as a bellboy at the exclusive Savoy Hotel in London, which gave him a good insight into the requirements for the look and shape of luggage. The GG Supreme canvas suitcase comes with wheels, making it much easier to transport. If something smaller is all you need, choose the handy bag with the meaningful name Weekender. At MCM, it is made from lightweight and durable Visetos canvas decorated with a printed grey monogram and finished in leather. The icing on the cake in Vitkac's travel bag segment is the Balmain suitcase specially designed for our department store's tenth birthday. The exclusive canvas model is decorated with embroidered logos and leather trims. It closes with snap fasteners and a gold-tone key. It looks insanely chic!
